I have been enthralled by astrology as far as I can remember, and have gone back to it every few years. I am no expert, and certainly received no formal training. This is merely a hobby, but I have been more intently studying Vedic astrology since 2013.  The type of Vedic astrology I am interested in is called sidereal astrology, based on the constellations as they appear in the sky, using their actual positions (fixed stars) at a given time, like a snapshot of the sky at the time of birth. Contrast this with tropical astrology, based on the equinoxes, which ignore the the precession of the equinoxes, causing it to gradually misalign with the fixed stars in the sky. There is no right or wrong version, just what works for you. But this is why Western and Vedic astrology often mismatch by approximately one sign.
